Title: Day 26: From Topeka to St. Joseph – A Day of Simple Pleasures

Today was a straightforward but fulfilling day as we cycled from Topeka, Kansas, to St. Joseph, Missouri, covering 89 miles. After the excitement of reaching our halfway point yesterday, today offered a more relaxed pace, filled with simple joys and iconic sights.

Our journey began with a stop at the Topeka Capitol Building. The grandeur of the building was a beautiful start to our day, reminding us of the rich history and governance that shape our journey through these states. We then continued to Topeka Park, enjoying the lush greenery and taking in the peaceful atmosphere.

Crossing the Missouri River was a significant moment as we entered a new state. The Missouri bridge provided a perfect vantage point to appreciate the vastness of the river and the beauty of the surrounding landscape.

As we pedaled on, we indulged in some delightful treats. At our snack stop, we enjoyed delicious donuts that provided the perfect energy boost. Later, we couldn’t resist stopping at Dairy Queen for a refreshing Blizzard, a small reward for our efforts on the road.

As we settle in St. Joseph for the night, I reflect on the calm and steady progress of today’s ride. Each mile brings us closer to our goal, and each day offers its own unique experiences and joys. Here’s to more adventures and the simple pleasures that make this journey so rewarding.
