Desert Delights and Route 66 Revival: Day 16 from Las Vegas to Tucumcari
Amidst the desert landscape, we encountered a surprising oasis in the form of American Legion Post 19, a beacon of camaraderie and community in the middle of the desert. It was a welcome respite from the open road, offering a chance to rest, recharge, and connect with fellow travelers along the way.

Day 16 of our cycling adventure proved to be a test of endurance and resilience as we journeyed through. Our day was filled with unexpected discoveries and nostalgic encounters.

Later, we passed by a Mexican restaurant on our way to Tucumcari, admiring the sights and sounds of the bustling town as we rode through

Our route initially took us along the Cross CamAm Highway 25, offering stunning views of the desert landscape as far as the eye could see. As we approached Tucumcari, we merged onto Route 66, the legendary highway that once symbolized the American road trip experience. With each mile, we were transported back to a bygone era of road trips, diners, and neon-lit motels, soaking in the nostalgia of a simpler time.

As we pedaled through the New Mexico Desert, we couldn’t help but marvel at the rugged beauty of the landscape, dotted with mesas, cacti, and endless stretches of open road. Each turn revealed a new vista, a new opportunity for reflection on the vastness and tranquility of the desert.
As we prepare to continue our journey, we carried with us the memories of a day spent traversing the desert landscape, with the promise of new adventures on the horizon.
