Pedaling Through Arizona: From Flagstaff to Holbrook, A Journey of Scenic Wonders and Heartfelt Causes
Today marks our last day in Arizona, and what a day it promises to be – filled with breathtaking scenery, encounters with inspiring individuals, and the warm embrace of iconic Route 66.

First our route lead us onto the Purple Heart Highway, a stretch of road steeped in history and honor. As we pedal along, I can’t help but reflect on the sacrifices of those who have served our country, and the resilience and courage that define the American spirit. It’s a humbling experience, riding in the shadow of such bravery, and I feel a renewed sense of gratitude for the freedoms we enjoy.

As we pass through Winslow, made famous by the iconic Eagles song, I can’t resist the urge to stop and soak in the nostalgia of this charming town. Standing on the corner, I appreciate the simple beauty of the moment, surrounded by the timeless allure of Route 66.

In Winslow, Arizona, you’ll find the delightful “Sipp Shoppe” ice cream parlor. Known for its charming ambiance and delicious treats, it’s the perfect spot to indulge in a scoop of homemade ice cream while soaking in the local charm

As we hit the road, our journey takes on a deeper meaning as we encounter a lone cyclist raising funds for kids’ bicycles. His mission resonates deeply with me, reminding me of the joy and freedom that a simple bicycle can bring to a child’s life. It’s a heartwarming encounter that sets the tone for the day, reminding me of the power of small acts of kindness to make a big difference in the world.

Arriving at the Wigwam Hotel in Holbrook, along the iconic Route 66, was like stepping into a time capsule of Americana. The teepee-shaped accommodations stood proudly against the Arizona sky, a quirky and unmistakable landmark along the historic highway. And when I heard about riding the Jackrabbit, I couldn’t resist the opportunity for adventure. It’s an area known for its abundance of jackrabbits.

As I reflect on our journey from Winslow to Holbrook, I’m filled with a profound gratitude for the experiences we’ve shared and the people we’ve met along the way. From the inspiring cyclist raising funds for kids’ bicycles to the solemn beauty of the Purple Heart Highway, each moment has left an indelible mark on my heart. As we bid farewell to Arizona and set our sights on the open road ahead, I’m filled with anticipation for the adventures that await us. I know they will be as unforgettable as the ones we’ve left behind, and I can’t wait to share them with you all.
