From Holbrook to Gallup: A Day of Changing Skies and Steady Pedals
Today’s leg of the journey from Holbrook, Arizona, to Gallup, New Mexico, may have been characterized by its mediocrity, but every mile was a testament to our resilience and determination. Setting out in the brisk morning air of 52 degrees, we braced ourselves for the long stretch ahead on Interstate 40.

As we ascended uphill through the Painted Desert, the temperature climbed steadily to 78 degrees, adding another layer of challenge to our already demanding journey. The breathtaking beauty of the desert landscape, with its vibrant hues and rugged terrain, served as a welcome distraction from the physical exertion, but our focus remained fixed on the road ahead.

Crossing the state line into New Mexico brought a change in scenery and a shift in time zones as we entered the Mountain Time Zone. The rain and overcast skies that greeted us reminded us of nature’s unpredictability, but we pressed on undeterred.

Navigating Interstate 40 with trucks flying by was no easy feat, but our determination propelled us forward with each passing mile. And as we finally rolled into Gallup, New Mexico, exhausted but triumphant, we couldn’t help but feel a sense of pride in what we had accomplished!
