Pedaling Through History: Exploring Jerome, Arizona’s Ghost Town Turned Tourist Gem, Before Conquering Mt. Mingus on the Journey from Prescott to Cottonwood

As the sun rose over the majestic landscapes of Arizona, our journey continued with another day of exhilarating challenges and unforgettable experiences. Day 6 of our cross-country cycling expedition took us from the historic town of Wickenburg to the picturesque city of Prescott, promising us 60 miles of scenic beauty, steep climbs, and intriguing encounters.

Amidst the sweat and exertion, our spirits were lifted by the camaraderie of our team, including the beloved Georgia Peaches and Fred, members of our dedicated support staff. Their encouragement and companionship made every uphill battle more bearable and every milestone more rewarding.

As we climbed higher and higher, the views became more breathtaking with every pedal stroke. Rolling hills, rugged canyons, and expansive skies stretched out before us, a reminder of the awe-inspiring beauty of the natural world.

Our route led us through the fascinating town of Jerome, once a thriving copper mining community and now celebrated as a ghost town turned vibrant tourist destination. We ate lunch at Haunted Hamburger!

My husband Jerry and his best friend Paul met in law school. I guess after years of arguing cases, they figured they could handle a few more ‘bar’ grievances

But the real test awaited us as we embarked on the ascent of Mt. Mingus, a towering peak that loomed ahead with its daunting slopes. With determination in our hearts and the unwavering support of our team, we tackled each incline, pushing ourselves to new heights both physically and mentally.

As we finally reached the vibrant city of Prescott, weary but triumphant, we couldn’t help but reflect on the journey that had brought us here. Day 6 had been a testament to the power of perseverance, the beauty of shared experiences, and the thrill of exploration. And as we savored the sense of accomplishment that comes with conquering mountains and surpassing limits, we knew that the adventure was far from over. With anticipation for the road ahead and gratitude for the memories behind us, we eagerly awaited the next chapter of our cross-country odyssey.
